Visit to China

In June, students visited Prof. Hill's field site in Yunnan, China where the Yi nationality lives. School was closed in our honor, and everyone dressed up to dance and give us dinner. Our hosts were the elderly couple pictured in the center of the group photos.

Immigration Research in Italy

With a Mellon grant for advanced research, Professor Merrill spent six weeks in Torino and Bologna, Italy doing field work on immigration. In her new project, 'New Order Politics,' she and her research partner compare African Diasporic political practices in the two cities. View additional photos of her research in Italy here.
