The Office of College Relations establishes relationships with college constituents and
communicates Dickinson's achievements and aspirations through media relations, print, and web support.
Recognizing that an informed constituency is an involved constituency,
the office fosters pathways of communication and cooperation with the college community and the public-at-large.
The College Relations staff is located at 50 Mooreland Avenue, behind Malcolm and Morgan dormitories,
near the Allison Church. Alumni, parents and friends of the College are welcome to stop by anytime. Faculty and staff are
invited to consult with College Relations staff about any communication project. Office hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.,
Monday through Friday.
The Office of College Relations is composed of six sub-divisions:
Alumni Relations, E-Communications, Media Relations, Parents and Families, Print Communication and Publications.
How to contribute to Dickinson media: The Campus Beat
College Relations is continually on the lookout for story ideas for our various publications and communications. The Campus Beat is a news-sharing program where members of the College Relations staff are assigned departments with whom they stay in touch to find out what is happening within that department -- with faculty, staff or students -- in or out of the classroom. The information is then shared within College Relations for possible stories for Campus News Extra, news releases, media pitches, the Web, parent, alumni and prospective student publications and the Dickinson Magazine, etc. Some examples of the information we are interested in includes: stories about student or faculty academic work, student/faculty research, student only or faculty only research, faculty grants/awards/books/research or student awards/scholarships/accomplishments or unusual extracurricular activities by either faculty or students -- in other words, all things "newsy" (both serious and fun).
