Our recommendation

We recommend starting with Math 171.

However, if you are interested in pursuing a computer science major and do not intend to take more calculus courses, we recommend taking Math 211.

It is difficult to leave mathematics for a year or more and then come back to it. If you need another semester of mathematics for your major or program (physics, chemistry, computer science, or pre-health) we strongly recommend taking it your first year, and preferably your first semester, at Dickinson.
