Devil Swimmers Impress at Nationals

Red Devil swimmers earned All-America honors in two events at the 2012 NCAA Division III Championships last weekend. Four men earned honorable mention All American honors in the 200 free relay placing 15th overall (1:23.95). Standout Jason Adams ’14 swam the lead leg in his first of three events at the championships, with Doug Murray ’12, Ed Barnard ’13 and Brandon Gauthier ’14 completing the relay. Adams also placed 22nd overall in the 50 freestyle (20.76) and won the consolation final to finish ninth overall in the 100 backstroke (49.51). He was just shy of earning All-America honors in the 100 butterfly, finishing 18th (50.04).

Murray finished 30th in the 50 freestyle, and set a school record in his leg of the Devils’ 400 free relay with a 46.26 split. Adams, Barnard, and Zach Yocum ’13 accompanied Murray in the relay to finish in 19th place (3:07.19). The squad also finished 20th in the 200 medley relay (1:33.93). Chris Miranda ’13 replaced Yocum in the 400 medley relay, with the team finishing 19th overall (3:25.84). Barnard also placed 27th overall in the 100 breaststroke (57.88).
