Golf Teams Falter at Home

The Devil men took third place on Monday, March 26 at the York Invitational, earning a combined score of 312. York won the 10-team tournament, shooting a 307 as a team. The Red Devils travelled to York for the annual event and faced high winds, and chilly weather. Fortunately the golfers fought through the strong gales to earn themselves a few top 10 spots as they continue forward in the season.

Chris Noonan ’15 scored the lowest round for the Devils, shooting a 76 and tying for sixth place. Just behind him was Linn Worthington ’15 and Arthur Worthington ’13 who both tied for ninth overall after shooting 77s.

In their home invitational on Wed., March 21, the men fell to a third place tie behind Franklin and Marshall and McDaniel, again with a score of 312. Arthur Worthington tied for the overall low score with a +2 round of 74, but took third after dropping the tie-breaker.

Sophomore Mike Demming ’14 commented on the overall feel of the team, and spoke to how thwey are coming together well and progressing throughout the season. Speaking to the possibility of winning a tournament soon he said “we’re kind of stuck on a team score of 312, so we’re trying to improve that and hopefully win one soon.”

The women’s team held their own Dickinson Invitational on Sunday, March 25. The Devils finished sixth with a 390. Annie Marshall ’12 led the team with an 88, good for eigth overall.

The men will play in the McDaniel Invitational on Saturday, March 31. The women will travel to Gettysburg on Thursday, April 5.
