Showdown!

Two Chinese Deliveries Vie for the Title of Dickinson’s Favorite

Carlisle is in the midst of a war. Propaganda for both sides litters the Dickinson campus. The tattered remains left in its wake can be seen strewn along dorm hallways. It is a battle rooted in the search for justice, for equality, for truth: Palace China or Great Wall?

It’s taken me all of four years to choose my side. Alright, I might have been swayed slightly towards Palace China by their vibrant takeout menus. But it’s become more meaningful than that. While the prices at Great Wall are slightly cheaper, Palace China has larger portion sizes. So, if you can keep yourself from eating the whole lot in one sitting, you can actually save some money. True, the employees at Great Wall understand campus a bit better, and actually deliver to the door. But, honestly, I can convince myself that the walk around the corner to meet the Palace China delivery person really cuts a dent into the massive calorie intake I’m about to savor.

It all comes down to flavor, though, and Palace China is the clear winner for me in that arena. My roommate argues that the Great Wall steamed dumplings might be some of the best of her life. In general, I’ve been pleased by the General Tso’s chicken and greatly disappointed by the crab rangoons from both. However, Great Wall lost me when they included celery in their pork in hot garlic sauce. That just doesn’t make any sense. So, which side do you choose?
