Hailing from Glastonbury, Connecticut, James has been a member of the Democratic Party since a few days after he turned 18. Since then, he has been active in both local and campus politics. He was elected Community Relations Liason in 2006, then elected President in 2007. Now in his second term as President, James hopes to turn the excitement of the primary season into tangible results for the general election in November. James is also the College's liaison to the Carlisle Borough Council, a position he has held since June of 2008. Politically, James is a left-leaning moderate. He enjoys writing (he is currently writing a book, "A Fever of Words", on his experiences with the College Democrats and youth volunteerism), arguing politics, and every now and then a good steak. Academically, James is a Russian major with a history minor, and he hopes someday to hold public office or work for the Democratic party.

One of James' favorite quotes pretty much sums up his feelings on the whole Bush administration:

"When I was a boy, I was told anyone could be president. Now I'm starting to believe that." - Clarence Darrow
