EL recognized at Grand Convention
The sisters of EL were honored by the international sorority at this summer’s Grand Convention when they won four awards: Improvement in Advisory Board runner up, Panhellenic Achievement runner up, Improvement in Recruitment and Membership Selection award and the beloved Soaring Kite award. The coveted Soaring Kite award takes into consideration the progress of an individual chapter over the course of two years and is awarded to the most-improved chapter.
“When they started reading the speech for Soaring Kite, and they started talking about all the things we’d done, the realization settled in that we were winning,” says Becky Fassio, EL Chapter president. “I was close to tears, and so was our district advisor. When they announced that we won, Karen Ledbetter jumped up and cheered for us.” Ledbetter, Theta’s Grand Council president, visited Dickinson’s Theta chapter during its 25th anniversary celebration in 2007.

Start a Lunch Brunch:
We would really like to see some lunch brunches started in other areas. Did you know that there are 41 Thetas in York, 9 in Lebanon, and 7 in Gettysburg? While the little town of Lititz has 17 Thetas!!! One reason we changed our name from Harrisburg Alum Chapter to South Central Pa Alum Chapter was to include those of you who are in the area, but perhaps not close enough to take part in all of our activities. Just getting together for lunch or dinner in your city should be fun. If you would like to see this in your area, indicate that on the questionnaire. It sure would be great to see you at Founders Day. Please mark your calendars now!!
