Dickinson College Student Garden
the dirt '07

Welcome to The Dirt 07 Homepage!

Here at last! Our 2007 edition of THE DIRT! We are greatful for the contributing efforts made by students, alumni, and our cherished Carlisle High School intern, Molly Bletz who put this together! Thank you!

As you will read, our 2006-2007 garden season has been tremendous! We have a dedicated core group of students who have contributed greatly to the success of the Student Garden Program.

Our 2007 Local Food Dinner was a hit and provided a venue for farmers, students, and community members to celebrate our region's bounty! The dinner showcased local ingredients and a menu that delighted the palate. Kim Seeley, President of the Pennsylvania Association for Sustianable Agriculture and second generation dariy farmer inspired the crowd as our keynote speaker.

One notable achievement this year is the development of a College Farm (see "Down at the New College Farm" for more details). We are very grateful for the opportunity to expand upon the success of the Student Garden and cultivate a diversified program that combines sustainable food production with campus education and community outreach!

We hope that you continue to enjoy our annual publication. Please keep your eyes peeled for our 2008 edition! In the meantime, have a wonderful summer!
